2018 CSPD Mid-Year Meeting is a one-day, CE driven event. In addition to CE sessions, the conference will include a networking lunch and CSPD's annual business meeting.

Choose from one of the three tracks offered at the Mid-Year Meeting.
Each track includes breakfast, three course lunch, waterfront reception with included bar.

TRACK 1
Location: Garden B

  • 8:00 am - 12:00 pm  Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Professionals
  • 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm  Lunch
  • 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm    Dental Practice Act by Arthur W. Curley JD
  • 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm    Infection Control / CALOSHA by Marcella Oster RDA

SPEAKER BIOS

Marcella Oster RDA is a current RDA with 37 years’ experience in many areas of the Dental field. In 1995 she co-founded and was president of the 1st women owned Hazardous Waste Treatment Facility called EcoSolutions. In 1999 it was acquired by the largest transport and treatment facility of hazardous and bio waste. Marcella is a independent speaker for CDA and co-created one of the first Dental hazardous waste training video offering a CE and approved by the Dental Board of California. She is a current CE provider and lectures all over California. She donates her extra time at a free Dental clinic in Auburn and enjoys assisting at CDAcares.

Arthur W. Curley JD is a senior trial attorney in the California healthcare defense firm of Bradley, Curley, Barrabee & Kowalski, PC. After graduating from the University of California, Berkeley with honors in 1970, he obtained his J.D. in 1974 from the UC Hastings College of the Law in San Francisco. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Dental Jurisprudence at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry in San Francisco and an Adjunct Faculty Professor at the University of California, San Francisco. As a trial attorney, he has been defending doctors for over 40 years and has presented risk management courses throughout the United States and Canada. He is an associate of the American Board of Trial Advocates. Mr. Curley has published several articles on risk management and authored chapters in numerous text books on oral surgery, endodontics and periodontics.

TRACK 3
Location: Waterfront AB

Pediatric Dental Sedation: Review and Updates for California Practitioners. This course is specifically designed for practitioners in California. It will emphasize California law, sedation regimens taught in California training programs, and specific case presentations of California pediatric dental patients. 7.5 CE units that satisfy the California sedation permit requirements.

SPEAKER BIOS

Lawrence Stephen Long Jr., MD is an attending pediatric anesthesiologist at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland.  He is also a member of Children's Dental Anesthesia Group and works with pediatric dentists to provide in-office general anesthesia for pediatric dental patients across the Bay Area.  He has given multiple lectures on pediatric airway management and pediatric pain management at hospitals throughout Northern California.  He completed his anesthesiology residency and pediatric anesthesiology fellowship at UCSF.  He lives in Walnut Creek with his wife and three children.

 This course will emphasize California Law and California case studies.

Dr. Yvonne Rochon, a dual board certified pediatric dentist/dental anesthesiologist, will be presenting a Morbidity and Mortality Conference based on recent sedation deaths in California. Learn about what mistakes have been made and what pediatric dentists can do to avoid in-office tragedies with sedation and general anesthesia cases.

 

 

CANCELLATION POLICY

  • CSPD is not responsible for travel expenses or penalties under any circumstances.
  • Full refunds for registration minus a $50 cancellation fee will be given only if written notice of cancellation is received 30 days prior to the course.
  • A 50% refund will be given if written notice is received up to two weeks prior to the meeting.
  • No refunds are issued within two weeks prior to the course. No refunds are issued for no-shows.
